Golf carts aren’t that complex overall, which makes customizing them surprisingly easy once you have the right parts. Of course, some people need a little inspiration to get started. If you’re interested in learning more about golf cart customization, check out this guide from the cart customization experts at Ben Nelson Golf and Outdoor Equipment.

1. Add Some Accessories

Accessories are a fun and easy way to change up how your golf cart looks or to add functionality. LED headlights are a perfect example. Not only are they brighter and longer lasting than standard bulbs, but you can even purchase colored LEDs to give your cart a more personal touch. Accessories like windshields and sound systems can help make your golf cart riding experience more comfortable and enjoyable. If you’re worried about safety, accessories like seat belts can help keep you and your passenger secure. These are just a few examples, so don’t be afraid to do some research of your own into possible accessories for your golf cart!

2. Add Engine Power

A typical unmodified golf cart model will have a top speed ranging from between 10-14 MPH. While this is more than enough for many golf cart owners, some have bigger plans for their carts. Souping up your golf cart’s engine is a difficult, potentially risky task, so we recommend getting a professional mechanic to help. It’s also important to keep in mind that once your golf cart passes a certain speed threshold, it will need to satisfy more stringent requirements in order to still be considered street legal.

3. Change up the Look

There are all kinds of different ways to change how your golf cart looks. Adding a decal, using a stencil design, or switching to a new paint job are all great ways to give your golf cart a whole new look. You can also swap out the wheels, windshield, and/or mirrors to help really sell the look you’re trying to achieve. Feel free to use photos posted online of custom carts if you’re in need of inspiration, or create a style all your own!
